Solon Bicentennial 1809 -2009
| The Town of Solon will celebrate its 200th birthday in 2009. Plans will include fun, food and friends! The activities will start in January with major events coinciding with the Solon Alumni annual meeting of July 18th, 2009. |

| On March 28th, 1809 the first town meeting was held at the house of Caleb Hobart at one in the afternoon. A reenactment of Solon’s first town meeting will bring the history of Solon to life. |

| Spectacular fireworks will light the skies over Solon. Plan to arrive early, find comfortable sitting and enjoy the grand display. | The Kennebec River will offer lots of fun for fishing, kayaking, or canoeing. Before the present bridge was built, people traversed the river by ferry. | A parade through town will honor Solon’s past and present. Main Street will host marching bands, floats and dignitaries galore! |
